The Word

John 21: 25.

But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written.

  1. John 3:16

16 – For God so loved the world, as to give His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting.

Because God loves me – and YOU – He sent his Son into our turbulent world to bring forgiveness for our sins, hope for eternal life and unconditional love, and to open the gates of Heaven. Jesus’ heart must have “ached” every minute of his life, seeing the condition the world was in and what it was to become in the future. Knowing that He would be rejected by the people He came to save, the crowning of thorns, the whippings and the crucifixion on the cross was agony and must have broken his most sacred heart. And what did He ask from us in return? Only for us to love and believe in Him. “That’s All!”

  2. Matthew 5:3–12 (the Sermon on the Mount)

3 – Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 – Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 – Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 – Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 – Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
8 – Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 – Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
10 – Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 – Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
12 – Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.

At any given time in our lives, we relate to one of the Beatitudes. Know that our Heavenly Father is with us to comfort and help us through these hard times. Have faith in Him, and all will be good.

  3. Luke 15:1-32

Tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus,
but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

So to them Jesus addressed this parable.

“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them
would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert
and go after the lost one until he finds it?
And when he does find it,
he sets it on his shoulders with great joy
    and, upon his arrival home,
he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them,
‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’
I tell you, in just the same way
there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents
    than over ninety-nine righteous people
who have no need of repentance.

If you are the one that doesn’t know God or walked away from Him, He wants you to come home. Pray to Him that He will show you the way.

  4. John 8: 12:
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying,

“I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Walking in the dark will get us nowhere. We will learn nothing and we will fall into dangerous places. We can’t find a way out of the darkness unless we have his “light” to show us the way. Jesus is the “Light of the world.” Let him guide us to Heaven!

  5. Mark 12: 28 – 31

And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the first of all?”

    Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one;
and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’
The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Help me, Lord, to find you in everyone I see and everything I do.

  6. John 1: 1-5

    1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
    2) He was in the beginning with God;
    3) All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.
    4) In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
    5) The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Oh my Lord, I believe in the Word because You “are” the Word. I believe that without Your light to guide me, I would live in darkness. My eyes, heart and mind shut to the goodness and love that comes only from You. Never leave me, oh Lord, and please, don’t give up one me. I am trying so hard to be the person You made me to be!

  7. John 1: 14

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. ”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” [John 1: 1-2,14, 14:6]

  8. Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

My dear Lord, take my heart; take my soul; take my mind and strength, They are yours to guide me to you. Without you I am blind and lost in a confusing world, where bad is good, up is down, wrong is right and in is out. People talk but act differently. Nothing makes sense anymore. Please help me out of this maze. You are my Light and Salvation. Nothing matters but you! Oh Lord, I will follow you to the end of my days. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

  9. John 3:17

For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.

    John 12:47

If any one hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.

Have mercy on me and forgive me, oh my Lord! For I have sinned! I try not to, but life gets in the way. Be my strength to fight the unknown evil that prowls around the world seeking the ruins of souls. When I fall, lift me up, when I stray, guide me to you. I must never forget that you are always with me in my hour of need. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
