We are human. Pure and simple, we are flawed and we are all sinners. That became a reality when Adam and Eve committed the first sin. Our natural state is to be lazy, jealous, prideful, greedy, lustful, angry and overindulgent. It is our nature. Identifying these seven deadly sins within us is a hard thing to do. We think only of what we want and not about what we need.
To rise above our flaws, we must ask the Holy Spirit to guide us, to show us the way to live a holy life, to protect us from temptation and to shield us with His love. We cannot do this alone and to think we can is prideful. Only with the grace of God can we change. Pray for help:
Come, oh Holy Spirit, fill my heart, my soul and my mind with your forgiveness, love, truth and wisdom. Guide me in my daily life, protect me from temptation and shield me with your love.
Give me the wisdom to understand the lessons of today, so that I may live a life more pleasing to our Heavenly Father. Help me to strengthen my faith so that I may accept the will of God without reservation but also with love and understanding.
Live in me, oh Holy Spirit, and let your love radiate from me to everyone I see, everything I touch, and everything I say. Because, without your love, oh Holy Spirit, I am nothing.
In unity with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I pray . . . . . Amen.
